The musical career of Garth Brooks spanned from 1989 to 2001 and during this time, he ruled the world of country music in the United States.

The Beginning
Garth Brooks was born on February 7, 1962, in Yukon, Oklahoma and he was the last child among the six children of his parents. The future development of the artist largely the legacy of his mother Colleen Carroll who herself was a country music singer on the Capitol Records and the Red Foley Show. The childhood interests of Brooks interestingly were not mainly music but sports however, he occasionally sang in family gatherings and other events. In 1984, Brooks took a degree in advertising and then did not continue with his favorite sports activity.
The singing career of Brook began in the Oklahoma clubs and bars where he sang and played on the guitar and Tumbleweed in Stillwater was the main place for the initial performances of Brooks. The first professional break for the artist was a failure and Brooks kept on struggling to gain a professional break in the music industry. The songwriter Kent Blazy was the man for whom Garth Brooks recorded demo records. The first professional break for the artist came in the form of a contract with the Capitol records in 1988 and then the career of the artist began to take shape.
The Success
The first album of Garth Brooks was named eponymously; it was called Garth Brooks that came out in 1989. The first album became an instant hit with music lovers, the album bagged second position in the US country album lists and stood on a 13th position in the Billboard 200 pop album list. George Strait’s influence on the album could be seen in most of the songs. The song Much Too Young featured in the top 10 songs of the nation and the next song was the If Tomorrow Never Comes, which was his first country song, the genre he became famous for in the world.
The No Fences album came in the year 1990 and was number one for as many as 23 weeks on the Billboard country music list. The third album of the artist was released in the year 1991, was named Ropin’ the Wind, and was booked in advance for 4 million copies. At the height of his success, the artist had to often balance his family and career and every time thought of retiring only to come back again. In 2001, Garth Brooks announced official retirement from the career.
