A singer from Texas has won a demo record deal worth $50,000 with Capitol Records in Nashville. The contest: an online singing competition sponsored by the label.
Grand Prairie native, Joshua Engel was given the award on August 24th concluding over four months of voting online.
Over the course of the contest, there were over five million people that visited the site. The contest began with over 1300 contestants who were narrowed down to 10 finanists. These ten were sent to Nashville to perform in front of a panel of judges. From there, three were chosen for a second performance and then Engel was declared the winner.
